Letter W coloring page
A big outlined capital W, the widest letter on the page, with two valleys, and a tracing row of four dotted W's underneath. The four strokes suit children from about four to six. Trace down, up, down, up without lifting the crayon, then say the sound. Whale, watermelon and wolf begin with W. Color the two valleys blue like waves. Prints on A4 or US Letter.

How to use the letter W page
The capital W and the small w share the same zigzag shape with two valleys, the small one just shorter. Color the two letters, then count the points at the bottom together. There are two in each.
Write both in one long stroke: down, up, down, up, without lifting the crayon. The sound comes with round lips, as if blowing a kiss: wind, web, wet. Then go to the window, which starts with W, and look out together. Name everything you see. Is there anything outside that starts with W? A wall, a worm, a wheel. Draw a window in the top space with one of them inside, and let your child color the glass light blue.
Questions
Is W just an upside-down M?
In shape it looks like it, and children often notice. But they make different sounds and are written differently. Turning the page upside down and laughing about it can help them remember which is which.
Why does W have such a long name?
Its name, double-u, comes from old writing where it looked like two u's side by side. Children often enjoy that story when they see the two valleys.
Is this page good for older children?
It is aimed at ages three to six. Older children can still enjoy decorating the big letters with patterns, but the tracing rows are made for beginners.
