Letter C coloring page
A big outlined capital C curves across the page, with four small dotted C's underneath to trace on a dotted line. It is one of the easiest letters to draw, so it suits children from about three. Follow the curve with a finger first, then with a crayon, starting at the top. Cat, car and cake begin with C. Try coloring the big C to look like a crescent moon. Prints on A4 or US Letter.

How to use the letter C page
Here the capital C and the small c are the same open curve, just in two sizes, which makes this one of the gentlest letter pages to start with. Color both letters, then ask your child what is different. Usually the only answer is the size, and spotting that is a small win in itself.
Both letters are written the same way: start near the top on the right, curve round to the left and stop at the bottom without closing the circle. Most of the time C sounds hard, as in cup, cookie and carrot. In a few words, like city and circle, it borrows a soft s sound. Then make the letter with the body: curl up on the floor in a C shape, or bend one hand into a small c and look through it like a telescope.
Questions
Why does C sometimes sound like S?
In English, C usually makes a hard sound, as in cat. Before the letters e, i or y it often turns soft, as in city or cereal. Young children only need the hard sound first; the soft one can wait.
Which letter is best to start with?
Many families begin with the letters in the child's own name. Simple shapes such as C, O, L and I are also good starters, because they take only one or two strokes.
