Letter P coloring page
A big outlined capital P, one tall post with a round bump at the top, and a row of four dotted P's to trace underneath. It suits children from about three to six. Color the hole in the bump a different color from the letter, then trace the row and say the sound. Pig, pizza and penguin start with P. A pink pig next to the P is an easy win. Fits A4 and US Letter.

How to use the letter P page
The capital P is a tall line with a bump at the top. The small p is a line that drops below the dotted line, with its bump sitting on the line. Color both letters and show your child how the small p hangs down, like a pencil standing on its point.
For the capital, go straight down, back to the top and round the bump to the middle. For the small p, go down past the line, back up and round the bump. The sound is a little puff: hold a strip of paper in front of the mouth and say pan, pear and puddle. Watch the paper jump. Your child will want to try it with every P word they can think of.
Questions
How can my child tell p and q apart?
For the small p, the line comes first and the bump is on the right. For q, the circle comes first and the line is on its right. Tracing both a few times with the order said aloud helps.
Can I print several copies for a classroom?
Yes. All the letter pages are free for classroom use. Print as many as you need on A4 or US Letter. They are not for resale.
My child is four. Is the small p too hard?
Not usually. It is two strokes, and the dotted row shows where to go below the line. If the tail is wobbly, that is fine. Letting them trace with a finger first makes it easier.
