Beep beep! A smiling robot with two antennae, round ear pieces and big shiny eyes stands ready to play. Two gears decorate his square chest, his arms end in friendly claw hands, and his striped legs lead to large rounded feet. The bold lines and simple blocks are great for children aged 2 to 5 to practice staying inside the shapes. Pick metallic-style crayons in silver and blue, then color the gears in a bright contrasting yellow or red.

Waving one jointed hand, a cheerful robot stands on a grassy hill under a beaming sun and two puffy clouds. He has a single antenna, bolt dots on his square head, three gears on his chest, a claw on his other arm and striped bendy limbs. Bushes and two flowers sit on each side of him. A good fit for kids aged 5 to 10. Make him a rainbow robot by giving each body part a different color, then use green and blue markers for the grass and sky.

Hard at work in a cozy workshop, a round-headed robot tightens a gear on a small mechanical box with a screwdriver. Through a window in his chest you can see his own gears turning. The bench is scattered with cogs, nuts, bolts, pliers, a wrench and a tray of parts, while a pencil cup, a potted plant, a hanging lamp and a pegboard of tools fill the room. Fine lines make it right for older kids and adults. Use colored pencils to shade the robot in brushed copper and steel gray.

Covered in rivets, gears and tiny patterns, a big-eyed robot waves from the center of a page packed edge to edge with cogs and pipes. A heart dial and a gear window decorate his chest, his limbs are banded with zigzags, dots and scallops, and wheels sit on his oversized boots. Behind him, mandala-style gears fill every gap. A rewarding challenge for experienced adult colorists. Try a steampunk palette of brass, copper and teal with fine-tip markers, adding white gel pen highlights on the rivets. Prints on A4 or US Letter.
