How to use the car tracing page
Use a real toy car for the first round. Place it at the dot, drive it along the dashed road to the house, and park it at the door. Then let your child do the same with their own car, before trying with a finger and finally a crayon. Moving from a toy to a finger to a crayon breaks a new stroke into small, manageable steps.
Left to right is the direction we read and write in English, so it helps to keep every road going the same way. If your child starts from the house end, just bring the car back to the start and say "the cars leave from here". Stop after a few roads and let them color the cars in their favorite colors. Count the cars together once they are all home.
Questions
What age is the horizontal line page for?
Side to side lines usually come just after vertical ones, often around age two and a half to three. If your child can already trace the rain page, they are likely ready for this one.
Why does the direction matter?
English is read and written from left to right, so practicing that direction early makes it feel natural later. Many letters also start with a left to right stroke.
My child's lines are very wobbly. Is that normal?
Yes. Wobbly lines are normal at this age. The aim is to practice the movement and the direction. Control and straighter lines come gradually with time and play.
