How to use the circle page
Before handing over a crayon, run your finger around the big circle and say "round and round". Then let your toddler do the same with their finger. That small game links the word circle to the shape and the movement, and it gives them a reason to look at the page before they scribble.
Afterward, go on a circle hunt around the house: a plate, a clock, a button, the bottom of a cup. Hold each one next to the page and compare. Toddlers this age usually color for a few minutes and then want to move on, which is normal, so keep the page nearby and come back to it later. A fat crayon held in the fist is the right tool, and paper taped to the table stops it sliding.
Questions
What age is the circle page for?
It is drawn for toddlers from about eighteen months to three years. The thick lines and empty page suit children who are just starting to hold a crayon and make marks.
My toddler scribbles everywhere. Is that okay?
Yes. At this age, scribbling across the lines is normal and part of learning to control a crayon. The goal is to enjoy making marks and to hear the word circle, not to stay inside.
Which crayons are best for toddlers?
Chunky crayons, egg-shaped crayons or thick washable markers are easiest to grip. Choose ones labeled non-toxic, and stay close by, since toddlers often try to taste them.
