How to use the star dot-to-dot
Before drawing, count the dots together and touch each one in order. Point to the circled 1, say "one", then hop your finger to 2, and so on. This first pass gives your child the route without any pressure, and they can see the zigzag in and out before they draw a single line.
Then draw the lines with a pencil or crayon, still saying each number aloud. When the last line joins 10 back to 1, ask what appeared. Most children are delighted to find a star. Afterward, color it in yellow, or give it a face, and draw a few small stars around it. If your child mixes up the order, just ask "What comes after six?" and let them find it.
Questions
What age is the star dot-to-dot for?
It suits children around four who are learning numbers 1 to 10. The dots are big and numbered clearly, and the star is a shape most children recognize.
What if my child can't count to ten yet?
Do it together. Say each number and point to it, and let your child draw the line. It is a gentle way to practice counting without needing to know all the numbers alone.
Why does the line go back from 10 to 1?
The last line closes the star, so the outline has no gap. The arrow on the page shows this final step, and once it is drawn the shape is complete and ready to color.
