Smiling butterflies with heart-shaped wing spots flutter above three big tulips, while two happy little bees buzz on either side. Long pointed leaves and a fringe of grass anchor the flowers at the bottom of the page. With bold outlines and wide spaces to fill, this spring scene is ideal for toddlers and preschoolers aged about 2 to 5. Hand them washable markers in red, pink and yellow for the tulips, then let them stripe the bees in yellow and black. It is a quick, satisfying page for a rainy afternoon.

Springtime fills this garden page: a bunch of tulips in full bloom, little daisies at their feet, a picket fence and bushes behind. Up in the sky, two smiling butterflies and two bees trail dotted flight paths past fluffy clouds and a bright sun. The shapes are clear yet varied, which suits children from about 5 to 10 who are ready for a bit more detail. Try giving each tulip a different color, then use a single sky blue around the clouds so the flowers really pop. Prints on A4 or US Letter.

Here is a lush flower meadow drawn in fine, delicate lines. Tulips, daisies and tall spikes of blossoms crowd the foreground, while two butterflies with patterned wings and a pair of fuzzy bees drift among them. Beyond a wooden rail fence, the field opens onto a quiet lake, a line of trees and a peak under soft clouds, with a leafy branch framing the top corner. A relaxing pick for teens and adults. Watercolor pencils are lovely here: color the petals, then blend them lightly with a damp brush for a soft spring glow.

No blank space survives on this tulip garden made for seasoned adult colorists. Large tulips covered in swirls and vein patterns rise from a dense carpet of tiny blossoms and daisies, with three butterflies spreading ornate, eye-spotted wings. Four detailed bees with fuzzy bodies and lacy wings hover between the stems. The page is filled edge to edge with zentangle texture, so it rewards patience and a steady hand. Choose fine-liner markers and work in a warm-to-cool scheme, pinks and corals on the tulips against cool greens and blues in the background.
