Forest (easy)

easy

A cheerful bunny sits beside a winding forest path, smiling up with big round eyes and a fluffy tail. Three tall pine trees stand behind, and spotted mushrooms pop up in both corners with tufts of grass around them. The thick outlines and large open shapes are made for little hands, so children around 2 to 5 can fill each area without stress. Try chunky crayons: a soft brown for the path, two shades of green for the pines, and bright red caps with white dots for the mushrooms. Prints on A4 or US Letter.

Deep in a pine forest, a fluffy rabbit sits on the grass and looks out at you, while a pebbled path winds back toward a distant hill. A huge tree trunk rises on the right with spotted toadstools at its foot, and leafy plants, bushes and two puffy clouds fill the rest of the scene. The lines are clean but there is plenty to explore, a good fit for kids about 5 to 10. Colored pencils work well here: layer a light green under a darker one on the pines to give the forest some depth.

Fine lines bring a whole woodland valley to life on this page. A realistic rabbit with soft, furry texture sits among ferns and toadstools, a thick tree trunk with patterned bark frames the left side, and pine branches with cones hang overhead. Behind, rocks line a path that leads to a calm lake ringed by fir trees, with jagged mountains and clouds on the horizon. Suited to older kids and adults who enjoy a full scene. For atmosphere, keep the far mountains in pale blue and lilac and save the richest greens and browns for the foreground.

Hidden in the undergrowth, a long-eared rabbit sits beside a winding stone path, its fur drawn as layers of tiny leaves with a flower motif on its hip. The path leads past rocks and ferns to a wooden fence and a waterfall, with tall pines, a mountain peak and the sun behind. A large pine cone hangs from the trees at the top left, and toadstools, berries and wildflowers crowd the foreground. Every corner is packed with texture, making this a page for expert adult colorists. Layer moss, sage and forest greens, keeping the rabbit in warm browns.
