Snow-capped Mount Fuji rises behind a calm lake in this gentle scene, with a round sun above and a tall pagoda on the right. Big cherry blossoms with star-shaped centers fill the bottom left corner. Standing about 100 kilometers from Tokyo, Japan, the mountain can be seen from the capital on clear days. Thick, simple lines make this a great choice for children aged about 2 to 5. With chunky crayons, color the blossoms pink, the sun red and the mountain blue with a white top.

Cherry branches heavy with blossoms frame the top and bottom of this page, and petals drift through the air toward Mount Fuji in Japan. A tiered pagoda stands on the right, while a lake, a small town and green hills lie at the foot of the snowy peak. The view recalls the famous outlook from Fujiyoshida, near the mountain. Kids aged about 5 to 10 will like the mix of big flowers and smaller buildings. With colored pencils, use soft pink and white for the blossoms, then cool blues and purples for the mountain.

Stone steps lined with lanterns lead down past a tiered pagoda toward a lake, a lakeside town and the graceful cone of Mount Fuji in Japan. Cherry blossoms spill from the top of the page and crowd the right corner, and forested hills roll toward the horizon. Mount Fuji last erupted in 1707. Older kids and adults will enjoy the deep perspective and the fine line work. Layer colored pencils from pale pink to rose in the blossoms, and give the mountain a gradient from lavender at the base to white at the summit.

A striped cat sits on a rocky path with its back to us, gazing across a valley toward Mount Fuji in Japan, which rises under a pale sun. A small bird perches in a blossoming cherry tree on the left, an ornate pagoda with hanging bells fills the right side, and a stone lantern, wooden fence, village rooftops and a lake with a little island crowd the middle. Every space is filled, perfect for experienced adult colorists. Mount Fuji is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Try a sunset palette of coral, peach and violet, with deep teal for the pines.
