Ideas for coloring the Peacock mandala

A real peacock feather has an eye at its center, and this mandala can borrow that idea. Make the inner rings the eye: a dark navy center, a ring of bright teal, then a ring of bronze. From there, fan outward through blues and greens, using the pointed arches for the darkest emerald so they look like feather tips. The beaded circles are the shimmer, so keep them light or metallic.

Layering colored pencils gives the most feather-like result: lay down a light teal, then a blue over half of each petal, then burnish with a white pencil. It is slow work, so plan for several sittings. The four corner rosettes are a good warm-up, and they let you test the palette before you commit to the rings. A hand rest sheet keeps the finished parts clean.

Questions

What colors does a peacock mandala need?

A navy, two or three teals and blues, two greens and a bronze or gold accent cover it. If you only have a small set, layering blue over yellow pencil gives good greens and teals.

Is the Peacock mandala suitable for teens?

Yes, for older teens who are patient with fine detail. It is an expert page with fourteen fine rings, so sharp colored pencils or fine liners make it much easier.

Can I sell my colored version?

No. The pages are free for personal and classroom use, but not for resale. You are welcome to frame it, gift it or share a photo of your finished page.
