How to use the scallop frame
The soft scalloped edge suits gentle messages and baby keepsakes. Write a child's name and date of birth in the middle, or glue in a small photo, and let an older sibling color the edge. It also works as a frame for a recipe card, a party invitation or a short poem copied out by hand.
For younger children, the scallops are a good place to practice a simple pattern: one bump red, one bump white, all the way around. Older children can try a three-color repeat or a slow change of color from one corner to the next. Color the band between the outer bumps and the inner rectangle last, in a quieter shade, so the edge and the center stay clear. Fold it in half to make a card.
Questions
What age is the scallop frame for?
The shapes are simple and quick to color, so children from about three can manage it. Older children and adults use it as a soft border for notes and photos.
Can I make a card with it?
Yes. Print on card stock, color the edge, write your message in the center and fold the sheet in half. It fits A4 and US Letter, so any printer will do.
Can I download the frame and type in it?
Yes. Download the SVG or PNG and add text in a document or design app before printing. The blank center leaves plenty of space for a title and a few lines.
