With a happy grin and the tip of its tongue poking out, a chubby wombat stands in front of a big rounded rock. A sprig of gum leaves, tufts of grass and a few pebbles finish the scene. The thick outlines and roomy shapes suit little ones aged 2 to 5. Color the wombat a warm sandy brown with a darker nose, and the leaves a soft green.

A friendly wombat with whiskers and a round nose wanders out from its burrow in a sandy mound. A gum tree leans over the scene, bushes line the back and spiky grass and smooth rocks sit on the ground. Clear lines and medium shapes suit kids aged about 5 to 10. Try gray brown fur, a pinkish gray nose and dusty olive leaves.

Finely drawn fur covers a sturdy wombat stepping out of its dark burrow between the rocks. Gum leaves and blossoms hang from above, and the bushland stretches past grasses and shrubs to a distant rocky range. Fine lines suit older kids, teens and adults who enjoy realistic wildlife pages. Layer grays and browns for the coat, and keep the burrow deep brown for contrast.

Leafy patterns fill the coat of a wombat crouched at the mouth of its burrow. A kookaburra perches on a branch above, a lizard crosses the log in front, and a banksia flower, gum blossoms, gumnuts and ferns crowd around a rocky outcrop. Made for teens and adults who like dense, relaxing work with fine pens. Try earthy browns for the wombat against eucalyptus greens and red blossoms.
