Wings spread wide, a happy pterodactyl soars through the sky with a big open-beaked smile. It has a pointed crest on its head, a long beak, a round belly and little clawed feet tucked underneath. Two puffy clouds float nearby, and the rest of the page is open space. With bold, thick outlines and large shapes, it is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers aged 2 to 5. Let them color it with chunky crayons in sunny orange or leafy green and make the sky light blue. Prints on A4 or US Letter.

High above a volcano and a calm lake, a smiling pterodactyl glides between fluffy clouds. Its wings stretch from one side of the page to the other, its long beak is open, and its clawed feet trail behind. Rounded treetops and gentle hills fill the bottom of the scene. With open spaces and clear outlines, this page works well for kids aged about 5 to 10. Try watercolor paints for the sky in light blue, then switch to colored pencils for the wings so the details stay crisp.

Soaring over a wild valley, a realistic pterodactyl spreads huge wings lined with fine ridges. Its long pointed crest, sharp beak and clawed feet are drawn in careful detail. Far below, a river winds between forested islands and rocky cliffs, a waterfall drops on the right, and layers of mountains fade toward the horizon under a big sun and rows of clouds. Older kids and adults will enjoy this wide scene with fine lines. Use soft pencils in rust and tan for the wings, and keep the distant mountains a pale blue gray for depth. Prints on A4 or US Letter.

Swirls fill the sky, leaf patterns cover the wings and tiny scales coat the body of this flying pterodactyl. With its beak open and clawed feet outstretched, it crosses a landscape packed with spiral clouds, a patterned sun with rays, mountains, pine forests, a winding river and a waterfall at the lower left. No area is left plain, so the page is meant for experienced adult colorists who love zentangle-style work. A sunset palette of coral, peach and violet in fine-tip markers makes the swirling sky glow.
