Meerkat coloring pages

Standing tall on its back legs, a smiling cartoon meerkat holds its little paws together over its tummy and looks out with big round eyes. Its long tail curls along the ground behind it, and a few smooth pebbles sit on the sandy patch at its feet. The thick, simple outlines and large open shapes make it a great first page for toddlers and preschoolers aged about 2 to 5. Try chunky crayons in sandy tan and light brown, with a cream belly. Two flat-topped acacia trees, a few round bushes, tufts of grass and scattered pebbles set the scene under a big round sun. The outlines are clear with a little fur detail, just right for children aged about 5 to 10. Color the meerkat in sandy tan and soft brown, and make the sky a warm sunset orange.

Perched on a large boulder, a meerkat stands upright and gazes across a wide savanna, claws resting on the stone. Behind it stretch flat-topped acacia trees, low hills, clumps of dry grass and a leafy shrub, with drifting clouds and a pale sun in the sky. Fine fur strokes and textured rocks reward older kids and adults who enjoy realistic scenes. Layer colored pencils in sandy beige and rust for the meerkat, then use dusty golds and olive greens for the grassland.

A watchful meerkat rises from the grass, its whole body covered in tiny feather-like patterns that give the fur rich texture.
