Sitting up proudly, a cheerful lion cub shows off a big spiky mane, round ears and a happy open smile. Its tufted tail curls up beside it, and the bold, simple outlines make each part easy to recognize. With no background to worry about, it is perfect for young children around 2 to 5. Fill the mane with a bright orange crayon and the body with sunny yellow, then add a touch of pink to the nose.

Under a flat-topped acacia tree, a friendly lion with a thick flowing mane strides across the savanna. Rounded rocks, bushes and clumps of grass set the scene without crowding it, and the cartoon face with big eyes and whisker dots adds plenty of charm. A great match for children about 5 to 10. Colored pencils let them layer the mane from golden yellow near the face to rusty brown at the edges. Prints on A4 or US Letter.

Atop a large rock, a powerful lion stands tall and gazes into the distance, its heavy mane drawn strand by strand. Below, a river winds through a wide savanna dotted with acacias, rolling hills lead to a setting sun, and a tall tree, clouds, a cliff and leafy shrubs frame the view. Fine, realistic linework makes it best for older kids and adults. Try a warm sunset palette: peach and apricot sky, golden grasses and a tawny coat with burnt sienna shading.

A symmetrical lion face fills the entire sheet, gazing straight ahead with calm, piercing eyes. Its mane is built from hundreds of leaf-shaped strands, a beaded diamond motif runs down the forehead, the muzzle is dotted with whisker spots, and two small mandala flowers sit in the lower corners. There is no blank background, so it is aimed at experienced adult colorists. Alcohol markers in a gradient from deep amber at the edges to pale gold near the face give a striking glow.
