With its trunk curled happily in the air, this baby elephant greets you with a wide smile and huge floppy ears. Thick, rounded outlines, big toenails and a little tufted tail make every part easy to spot, and the plain white background keeps things simple. A lovely first page for children aged about 2 to 5. Classic gray works, but little artists may prefer a soft baby blue or pink elephant colored with chunky crayons. Prints on A4 or US Letter.
Out on a grassy plain, a cheerful young elephant raises its trunk beside a small pond edged with reeds and pebbles. A shining sun, two puffy clouds, a round tree and low bushes complete the friendly scene. The lines are clean and the shapes moderately sized, just right for kids about 5 to 10. Color the pond with a few strokes of light blue pencil, then add darker blue ripple lines to make the water look like it is moving.

Fine lines trace the wrinkles across its skin and ears, while a leafy branch hangs overhead and the savanna stretches back to flat-topped acacia trees and a distant mountain.
